A claim plan, and a $100,000 policy behind it
Your car is one of the most valuable things your family owns. Most brokers have zero insurance of their own and hand you the driver's number. We own a $100,000 contingent cargo policy, and we're still holding the carrier's pay when your car arrives.

What most car shippers mean by "fully insured"
When a broker says "fully insured," they almost always mean the truck driver has insurance. That's required by law, and it's real. But it comes with deductibles of $2,500 to $5,000, exclusions you've never read, and an insurance company with every reason to say no.
And the broker? Most have no insurance of their own. If the carrier's insurer denies your claim, the broker hands you the driver's phone number and wishes you luck.
How a claim works with us
- At delivery: note any damage on the inspection report, take photos, and call us the same day.
- We still have leverage: we haven't paid the carrier yet. That's why the claim gets attention instead of being ignored.
- We pick the fastest path to a repair: usually the carrier's cargo policy. Often we recommend filing with your own auto insurer first. You get the car fixed sooner and for a smaller deductible, and your insurer collects from the carrier afterward.
- The backstop: if the carrier's insurer denies or can't cover a legitimate claim, our $100,000 contingent cargo policy is behind it.
Questions to ask any car shipper about insurance
- Is there any insurance in your name, or only the carrier's?
- What is the carrier's deductible, and who pays it?
- Did you verify the carrier's insurance with the insurer, or did the driver email a PDF?
- If the carrier's insurer denies my claim, then what?

Questions about damage and insurance
Does car shipping include insurance?
Every licensed carrier must carry cargo insurance, and that policy is first in line for damage in transit. The catch: deductibles of $2,500 to $5,000 are common, and some claims get denied. That's why we own a $100,000 contingent cargo policy in our own name, included with every shipment.
What is contingent cargo insurance?
It's a backup policy. If the carrier's insurer denies a legitimate claim, or can't cover it, a contingent policy can step in. Ours is owned by Mr. Car Shipper and covers up to $100,000.
Should I file with my own auto insurance?
Sometimes that's the fastest route. Your insurer often fixes the car sooner and with a smaller deductible, then collects from the carrier's insurer afterward. We'll tell you which path makes sense for your situation.
What should I do if my car arrives damaged?
Note the damage on the delivery inspection report before you sign, take photos, and call us that same day. We're still holding the carrier's pay, so the claim gets attention.
